A Day in the Life of Kimberley Payne

My Canadian author friend Kimberley is another children’s author. But she does more than just write children’s books–and I thought I was busy! Here’s a glimpse into her full day. (Okay, hold on to your horses!)

A Day in the Life of Canadian author and blogger, Kimberley Payne

Kimberley Payne, author

Most mornings, I awake to my radio alarm and stay in bed listening to Focus on the Family, followed by James McDonald’s preaching. I find it refreshing to start my day listening to the Word.

I eat my breakfast while waiting for my computer to boot up. As I’m currently between jobs, I check my bookmarked favourite employment job sites and apply to all suitable openings. I’ve been fortunate to get some good part-time and contracts positions over the years. I then read through and respond to emails.

Next, I prepare my blogs for the week ahead. I have an eclectic collection of blogs to suit my interests and keep my ADD personality satisfied. I host a blog called Books for Book Lovers  where I showcase books written by Christian authors. I host a blog called Author Resources for Success  where I feature products and services of benefit to writers. I host a new blog called Christian Fitness Resources where I highlight books and programs designed for Christians who are interested in health and wellness. I host a blog called Science & Faith Matters  where I discuss children’s books that explore science and faith. Lastly, I host my personal blog http://www.kimberleypayne.com/blog where I write a new devotional and feature a guest post on exercise weekly.

My_Journey_to_the_Holy_Land_Cover Marketing each of these different blogs takes a chunk of my time every day as I share them on my Facebook page in Facebook groups, on Google+, and LinkedIn. I have 11 boards on Pinterest  and pin to the appropriate board. I also send out tweets using two different accounts https://twitter.com/FamFaithMatters and https://twitter.com/FitForFaith

I take my lunch in the living room while watching old Seinfeld episodes. Then I nap.

After my nap, I go for a walk with my neighbour. We usually take the dog for an hour around our country roads.

On my return, I go back to the computer and work on larger projects, such as a book. I recently completed three short e-books: Think Snow–a collection of devotional writings for snowmobilers , My Journey to the Holy Land–a devotional photo journal  , and ABCs of Gratitude–giving thanks through the alphabet for your blessings .Fit for Faith

Other larger projects that I work on in the afternoon include designing courses http://www.kimberleypayne.com/e-courses and webinars based on my book Fit for Faith – 7 weeks to improved spiritual & physical health and recording podcasts like Fit Tips on Hope Stream Radio.

My husband graciously prepares supper and then I take about an hour of downtime watching television sitcoms. On alternate days, I do a strength training routine in my basement.Women of strength

I return to my computer to read and answer emails and “play” on Facebook.

In the evenings, I continue to work on larger projects. Lately, I’ve been working on telephone interviews for my upcoming Health Matters telesummit.

At the end of the night, I retire to my living room to read a chapter or two from a novel, and then read my Bible before bedtime.

Although this is a “typical” day, no two days are exactly alike. For example, every Tuesday morning, I participate in an hour-long prayer session at my church. Every Wednesday afternoon, I volunteer at the bookstore in my village. Wednesday evenings, I volunteer in the children’s ministry program at my church. Every other Thursday evening, I attend a women’s Bible Study. Saturdays are usually dedicated to household chores.

On Sundays, I fast from television and my computer. I attend church, go for a prayer walk, and enjoy a relaxing day so that I’m ready to do it all again the next week.

I love the variety in my days, and although I have continued to look for work “outside” the home, my prayer is to someday make enough income from my writing activities as an authorpreneur to do it full-time.
