The Cost of Self-publishing a Book: What Most Will Never Want You to Know.

February 10, 2017 by

It's been seven years since I have been in the book publishing business. The learning curve has been a steep one. Some of the things I wish I'd learned in self publishing has been costly. But in the name of learning I would say it has been worthwhile and I want to reveal these to you. You may be shocked at some of the truths about self publishing here but it is not my intention to discourage you from writing and publishing your first, or second, or even, third book. But only that you go in with your eyes open. In ...

Convert a manuscript to Mobi and Epub files free, at a click of a button.

June 11, 2016 by

Most writers already know that to be self-published we have to have our books on Amazon and hopefully on iBooks or Kobo. But how do we convert our word doc manuscripts without having to go through all the technical stuff, or paying hundreds of dollars for conversion? (I've done both. Multiple times!) If you don’t already know, the mobi file is what Kindle uses and epub format is for all other e-readers. With this process you can have a ready file you can pass to your friends with Kindle or other e-readers and they can upload and read on their ...

How to set up a Goodreads Giveaway (physical book)

June 6, 2016 by

If you’re an author—even a new one—and have done any form of research on Indie or self-publishing you’d have heard of Goodreads. An arm of Amazon it’s where voracious readers congregate and opine about their latest reads. It’s not a bad place to conduct a giveaway. At the time of this writing, Goodreads is experimenting with giveaways for those who only have a Kindle eBook. (In case you have ...

Book Marketing Help– A global customized Amazon link

June 1, 2016 by

For many of us authors we sell on Amazon. Unfortunately, Amazon has unique links for different countries. It may not seem like a big deal but why even lose a single potential reader? I thought Book Linker gives us a simple and elegant solution. Get it for each of your Amazon books and when your subscriber clicks on the link it doesn’t matter where they are from, they will automatically get to the Amazon store of their country. Makes it easy for the author (publisher) and for the reader as well. It’s free to use and you can also ...

How to format your Microsoft word document (manuscript) for print books (paperbacks)

May 21, 2016 by

Again a follow-along step-by-step process. I have scoured the internet and since I am a visual learner others who are new to Indie publishing and also learn best by watching would find these step by step tutorials I have watched myself useful. There are hundreds (maybe thousands) of new Indie authors who waste thousands of dollars “hiring” so-called “publishers” (which are merely printers since real traditional publishers will not charge you but instead will pay you a royalty and also do all the distribution and marketing of your books for you.) This series of self-publishing for the indie ...

How To Upload Your Manuscript Onto Createspace

May 16, 2016 by

I’ve started a new series to help Indie authors do things themselves for free or for next to nothing. You don’t have to be techie—I am not! But I'm not one to sit around and stare into space like this lady below either. If you are a new author and are unsure of how exactly to upload your manuscript onto Createspace you will find this step by step video helpful. Uploading onto Createspace (the arm of Amazon that can create physical books for you in different sizes, in case you don't know,) doesn't have to be a nightmare. I ...
