Grave ISIS Christian persecution in Iraq

A week ago, I blogged about ISIS and my thoughts on this. I have been a member of several grass roots organization and have been getting updates about fellow Believers in Iraq who are suffering and persecuted by ISIS. If you want to know a bit about that’s happening there below is an email that would keep you up to date so far as to what is happening in Iraq and the problems with ISIS and fellow- Christian believers there.

As you feel led, please tweet, share on facebook, (scroll all the way to the bottom of this article) or donate.  Every little bit helps when the situation is so grave.

PS: Please know that I am not getting any sort of compensation for posting this. I just feel there is a need to help fellow Christians facing persecution.

For several weeks now, my boss — Grassfire president Steve Elliott — has been telling our team members about RUN Ministries’ rescue and relief efforts in northern Iraq. ISIS violence has spawned an extreme humanitarian crisis that could get even worse now that the U.S. and its allies have launched airstrikes against the terror group.

Islamic terrorists have murdered thousands and forced more than a million Iraqis from their homes. Iraqi Christians and other religious minorities continue to be caught in the crosshairs of conflict. Thousands of families have lost everything, even loved ones, to ISIS madmen.

Steve has kept our Grassfire team members continually updated about the intensifying need in northern Iraq. If you’ve read any of our previous alerts, you know that food, water, medicine and shelter are in short supply. So many people have helped answer the call to meet this overwhelming humanitarian need, but there’s still much more to do. Click here to donate now.

+ + Dramatic Email Takes Readers Behind Enemy Lines With A RUN Volunteer

Yesterday, RUN president Eric Watt shared a powerful and inspiring behind-the-scene’s update about a volunteer name “Abraham.” Frankly, the response to this “rescuer’s story” was disappointing. So Steve and I decided to share it with you again in hopes that you’ll gain a better understanding of the importance of RUN’s difficult, dangerous and lifesaving work. Perhaps after reading it, you’ll decide to support Eric and his team both prayerfully and financially. Here’s the email we received yesterday:

Abraham had been working non-stop for more than two days and was completely exhausted. But he knew that he could not rest; he had to go out one more time to look for those hiding in the Sinjar Mountain area of northern Iraq.

Earlier that day, he had gotten word that families may still be hiding. So he and his teammate set out in the middle of the night. Within a couple of hours, Abraham spotted a family huddled together, eyes closed and trying to hide silently to avoid terrorists or wild animals.

He approached them and quietly announced that he was there to help, offering food, water, and safe passage to a peaceful camp.

Their fears subsided, and then the long journey through the mountains began. Hours later, as the sun began to rise, the “Community of Hope” refugee camp appeared. Abraham had rescued another family and led them to safety.

Abraham and his team have gone behind enemy lines and rescued more than 1,800 families. They are doing their part, but we just don’t have enough shelter, food, clothing and water to care for the enormous stream of families under our care.

RUN Ministries is committed to continuing their difficult, dangerous and lifesaving work, but they can’t do it alone. They desperately need our support. More than 18,000 Iraqi Christians and other religious minorities are currently under the care and protection of Eric’s team. With hundreds of refugees arriving every day, we’re calling on Grassfire Nation to do whatever they can to help.

P.S. Airstrikes against ISIS by the U.S. military and its allies could dramatically intensify the already extreme humanitarian crisis in northern Iraq. By this weekend, RUN Ministries could be caring for and protecting 20,000 Iraqi Christians and other religious minorities.
